Events/Contests

Events/contests are good way of attracting attention it also can bring members together or challenge their skills or it could just for the fun of it and so I think we need some. At the moment I have no idea of any events but that doesn't mean you guys and girls can't come up with some. So if you Admins or moderators or any members have an idea(s) for an events or contests post it here.

But before we do any events/contests I would need the go-ahead from the admins. I'll try to make a list of possible events/contests. Also any contest I/you see on other websites that I/you think would cool. Tell us, it could help spread the news of our awesomeness.

Possible events/contests:
-A 24 hours comic day (caff's idea)
-A contest to design banner, mascot, etc... for the forum (Ep idea)
-A contest for member's projects, if they want it (Ep idea)



Events/Contests going on right now:
-The Kodansha Morning International Manga Competition is coming up soon. I try to alert you on that or maybe someone else will.

There's a wierd little interactve storytelling game my sister and I once explored...

The way you play is, everybody gets an idea for a story. Then first person posts a sentence up to a paragraph, Next person the same, under three conditions: He must advance his own plot while steering the story into narative dead-ends for the others and trying not to break the whole thing.

If we make this a contest, and it could well be a long one, the last man standing is the winner. If everybody loses interest, or if your story runs to a dead end, this is when you know you're out of the game.

Not sure how it'll work as a contest, though I doubt it would fly well as a RP board. What you think?

Good idea, I'm going post it as a possible event/contest. Also Ken that a awesome idea, but it might be a little too long to complete.

Yeah. The length of time til completion is the main reason I would hesitate to officially present it to either msg board. Would be a lovely challenge to narative skills, though, if we could maintain long enough interest among sufficient participants.

The Kodansha Morning International Manga Competition is on soon, I think... It looks like fun

And I think that here, at least, the annual 24 hour comic day is held on the Queen's Birthday - 26th of June, if I'm not mistaken.

A contest to design things for the forum every so often (like a banner, mascots, etc) would go down well to, as well as various contests for people's projects, if they want.

Great ideas Ep, I will ask the admin about these contests.

We could also make a kind of collab comp for whoever's up to it - e.g, pair a writer and artist in collaboration and make about a five page story in a month on a certain theme?

We could also make a 'contest corner' project, or something, to store all the contests in.

Again, another great idea, I ask the Admin about it.

Would it be possible for members to host their own competitions?

I have a few ideas but I always like the idea of offering a prize to the winner, but what could be offered?

That could be a prize, but at the moment we're a small forum and have no money. Maybe you can come up with one or I have to ask the other Moderators and Admin.

eh that's why I suggest service, instead of goods/money I fear, even with club dues we'll never make that level. Best bet for monetary prize might be ad/Sense or a sponser.

I like the slavery idea, but what about for writers? XD
